Live Scan Northern CaliforniaThe California Department of Justice (DOJ) has established a process of performing background checks utilizing digitized fingerprints. A new process, called LiveScan, allows fingerprints to be electronically transmitted to the DOJ in a matter of seconds. This technology replaces rolling fingerprints on an ink pad and sending them in by mail. This delay slowed the process by weeks and even months, and if smudged the process may have to be repeated.
The LiveScan process gets the results of your criminal background check to your organization or employer within days – not weeks.

The Live Scan process revolutionizes fingerprinting by allowing electronic submission directly to the Department of Justice (DOJ). This modern approach significantly reduces the time required for background checks, making it an ideal choice for employers and organizations needing swift verification of applicants.
Unlike traditional ink fingerprinting, which can be messy and time-consuming, Live Scan captures fingerprints digitally. The information is securely transmitted, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Many businesses in California are now adopting this method to streamline their hiring processes and enhance security measures.
When you arrive for your Live Scan appointment, you can expect a straightforward and quick process. After checking in, you will provide your identification and complete any necessary forms. The technician will guide you through the fingerprinting procedure, ensuring a comfortable experience.
The entire visit typically lasts about 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the volume of clients. You will leave with a confirmation of your submission, and in most cases, your background check results will be available within days, allowing employers to make timely decisions.
